Sustainable Development Goals

End poverty in all its forms everywhere. Uganda targets reducing multidimensional poverty from 39.7% to below 20% through inclusive economic growth, social protection programmes and targeted interventions for vulnerable groups.

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition. Uganda is investing in agricultural modernisation, climate-smart farming, and nutrition programmes to combat malnutrition and food insecurity.

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Key priorities include reducing maternal and child mortality, combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, and strengthening health systems.

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education. Uganda is expanding Universal Primary and Secondary Education, investing in teacher training and improving learning outcomes.

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Uganda is strengthening legal frameworks, increasing women's participation in leadership and addressing gender-based violence.

Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. Investments in water infrastructure and hygiene promotion are expanding access across rural and urban areas.

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy. Uganda is expanding hydropower capacity, promoting solar energy and increasing rural electrification coverage.

Promote sustained, inclusive economic growth, full employment and decent work. Uganda focuses on youth employment, industrialisation and supporting micro, small and medium enterprises.

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive industrialisation and foster innovation. Key investments include transport networks, industrial parks and digital infrastructure.

Reduce inequality within and among countries. Uganda targets closing regional disparities, supporting persons with disabilities and ensuring equitable access to services.

Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Focus areas include urban planning, affordable housing, waste management and public transport.

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. Uganda promotes sustainable agriculture, reduces food waste and encourages circular economy practices.

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Uganda's NDC commits to reducing emissions while building resilience through adaptation in agriculture, water and forestry.

Conserve and sustainably use aquatic resources. Uganda focuses on sustainable fisheries management on Lake Victoria and other water bodies, combating illegal fishing and pollution.

Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. Uganda is combating deforestation, protecting biodiversity in national parks and restoring degraded landscapes.

Promote peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice and accountable institutions. Uganda strengthens governance, anti-corruption measures and access to legal services.

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise global partnerships. Uganda actively engages development partners, the private sector and South-South cooperation frameworks.
